Announcement from the Chair of AMEB Victoria

AMEB (Vic) Ltd

The Board of Directors of AMEB (Vic) Ltd is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Andrew Snell as the next General Manager of AMEB (Vic) Ltd with effect from 1 April 2025, succeeding Mr Alwyn Mott. Prior to that date Andrew will be the Acting General Manager of the Company from 16 December 2024.

Andrew Snell was appointed at the end of 2023 by the Board of AMEB (Vic) as Deputy General Manager, a role he has filled with distinction. Prior to his work with the AMEB Andrew accrued extensive experience in the field of senior artistic business management. He has held major administrative positions in the tertiary Music sector as well as significant performance organisations, including Opera Australia. He has worked in municipal Arts management, and for some years served as the Managing Director of Victorian Opera. Andrew also has a fine record as a performer, conductor and musical director of a number of distinguished brass ensembles.

The Directors of AMEB (Vic) Ltd also wish to acknowledge the sustained record of company managerial leadership provided by Alwyn Mott. In 2003 Alwyn came to the AMEB from a distinguished background in Music education and management. He has steered the Victorian AMEB through some challenging times and has made a substantial contribution to the area of company management as well as the continued evolution of AMEB examinations in Victoria. His service was especially notable during the exceptionally difficult period of the pandemic which had such far-reaching consequences for artistic practice both within the State of Victoria and the operations of the AMEB within the State.

The Directors of AMEB (Vic) Ltd are grateful to Alwyn for his service and wish him very well for his retirement and for the future. The Directors also look forward to welcoming Andrew as he takes up this highly significant role.
