Enrolment process

How to enrol

All enrolments must be made through AMEB Connect.

Enrolment dates for all exam sessions are listed here.

Late enrolments

Late enrolments can be accepted up to seven days from the closing date for each session. After that date, enrolments can only be accepted at the discretion of AMEB Victoria. Late enrolment fees apply to all late enrolments.

Exam dates and times

Candidates should be prepared to take their exam at any time during the published session dates (including weekends), between 9am and 6pm unless a reasonable request for dates to be avoided has been submitted.

Please note that exams will not be scheduled on public holidays but may be scheduled on any other dates (including school holidays and teacher-only days).

Hosting exams

Subject to minimum enrolments and venue requirements, exams can be hosted in schools or private studios.

To apply to host exams in a new venue, please complete this form before enrolling your candidates. Once your venue is approved, you will be given a venue code to use when enrolling.

If you want to use a non-AMEB venue to host your candidates, please request the venue code from the venue owner. AMEB Victoria cannot supply this information.

Paper-based theory exams may also be hosted at your venue. Please contact AMEB Victoria here for details.

Dates to be avoided

Before submitting entries, teachers are advised to consult with students and parents about dates that should be avoided.

Requests to avoid specific dates should be made via AMEB Connect at the time of enrolment and will only be considered if related to religious holidays, school exams, school camps, curriculum days, special events or exceptional situations. Requests made and agreed after enrolments have been received may result in re-scheduling fees being charged. While every effort will be made to accommodate requests, AMEB Victoria cannot guarantee that requests will be possible.

Requests for exams late in the session, or for exams on specific dates, will not be considered.

Enrolment acceptance

Enrolments are accepted by AMEB Victoria on the understanding that teachers, candidates and parents agree to AMEB Victoria policies and procedures and accept that assessments are made in accordance with the syllabus requirements and regulations prescribed in the current AMEB Syllabus.

Confirmation of Enrolment

A Confirmation of Enrolment will be sent automatically to the enrolling person after payment has been made. Please check that all details are correct. Corrections to enrolments must be submitted by email within 5 business days. After 5 business days a Change of Enrolment fee will apply. Where a change of Grade is requested and cannot be accommodated a re-scheduling fee of 75% of the exam fee will apply.

Candidates with disabilities

AMEB Victoria is committed to providing quality exams for all candidates, including those with disabilities. We aim to ensure that all candidates have access to the exam process, can demonstrate their skills and feel welcome.

Candidates with disabilities will be assessed on the same basis as all other candidates. While no concessions are made regarding the assessment criteria used, we treat each candidate individually and can make special exam arrangements for candidates with disabilities on request. For more information click here.

A request for special exam arrangements should made be as soon as possible after enrolment. The candidate (if 18 years or over) or their guardian must complete the form here to make the request and confirm that they give permission for information on the candidate’s special exam arrangements to be provided to the examiner. Recent medical documentation of the candidate’s disability must be attached to the application. Requests should be submitted for each exam for which the candidate enrols, as information about disabilities will not be retained for subsequent exams.

Candidate confidentiality

AMEB uses its best endeavours to maintain privacy of candidate information and keeps details of exam enrolments, results and personal information confidential to the enrolling person. Therefore, all communication about candidates and their exams is only possible with the enrolling person, who may be asked to provide information to confirm their identity before we can discuss a particular candidate’s exam.

However, in exceptional circumstances, timetable information will be provided to parents or candidates if they can accurately identify the candidate by providing all the following details: teacher’s name and address; candidate’s full name and date of birth; and the subject and grade of the exam for which the candidate is enrolled.

For more information, please see AMEB Victoria’s Privacy Policy here.

Notices of Examination

Exam notices confirming the date and time of the exam will be uploaded to AMEB Connect at least three weeks before the exam. Any exam details visible in AMEB Connect are subject to change until the Notice of Examination is issued.
