Exam Session & Enrolment Dates 2025
Practical exams
Enrolments for face-to-face Practical exams will open one month before the closing date for that session.
In 2025, closing dates are on Thursdays. From 11:59pm on the closing date a late fee will automatically apply for a period of seven days. The exam session will automatically close to enrolments at 11.59pm at the end of the late enrolment period.
Video exams
Repertoire, P Plate Piano and selected Rockschool exams are available by pre-recorded video submission.
The video must be recorded no earlier than three weeks before enrolment and submitted no later than 27 November.

Regional Victoria
Piano exams are offered in all regional centres listed here.
Instrumental, Voice and Speech exams are only offered in Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong, Sale, Shepparton and Warragul, subject to sufficient enrolments. Diploma exams are not available in Regional Sessions.

Hosting AMEB Practical exams
A school or private studio with examining time of three hours or more in a particular instrument may apply to host Practical exams and may also request to host those exams at any time between April and November. Click here for more information about hosting Practical exams.
Written Exams
Online exams
Online grade exams in Theory of Music (all grades), Musicianship (all grades), Music Craft (Preliminary to Grade 4) and Speech & Performance Theory (all grades) are available from 3 January until 30 December.
Paper-based Theory of Music exams
An enroller with ten or more candidates may request to host Theory of Music exams between April through and November. Requests should be lodged with AMEB Victoria at least six weeks before the proposed exam date and the final date for requests is 19 September. Click here for more information.
Paper-based exams at the AMEB Hawthorn studios
In 2025, paper-based Theory of Music Diplomas, Grade 5 & 6 exams, and Music Craft Grades 5 & 6 will be offered at the AMEB Studios in Hawthorn on Wednesday 10 September. Enrolments will open on 3 June and close on 3 July.
