AMEB Sound Insights Day 2026
Instrumental learners have the chance to get some Sound Insights on AMEB repertoire and exam preparation through a unique series at Melbourne Recital Centre (MRC).
A partnership between MRC and the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB), this venue takeover on Tuesday 14 April 2026 will include a series of workshops, master classes and showcase concerts designed to provide learners with the chance to hear AMEB repertoire live, join the discussion of pieces, and gain essential exam insights.
Focusing on piano, strings and woodwind, the day will feature professional artists and AMEB examiners Kristian Chong, Josephine Vains and Johanna Selleck performing syllabus pieces live, with discussion panels of AMEB reps and Australian composers including Aaron Wyatt, Calvin Bowman and Carolyn Morris.
Alongside these Sound Insights workshops will be a series of master classes, where young musicians will have the opportunity to perform and be guided by our AMEB examiners. This is a chance for audience members to go behind the scenes and watch these young artists hone their musical skills.
Learners will also have the chance to chat with AMEB representatives, test their aural skills, and ask tricky music theory questions at the Info Centre.
The day will conclude with a Student Showcase concert, the first of its kind, highlighting and celebrating the achievements of the next generation of rising stars from all across Victoria.
