Candidates with Specific Needs
AMEB Victoria is committed to providing quality exams for all candidates, including those with specific needs, to ensure that all candidates can access the exam process, demonstrate their skills, and feel welcome.
Candidates with specific needs will be offered the same examining standards as those applied to all candidates, ensuring they can participate on the same basis as their peers. No concessions are made regarding the assessment criteria used, but reasonable adjustments can be made for candidates with specific needs, upon request. Our examiners will do their best to ensure that written comments are sensitive and do not draw undue attention to factors that are beyond a candidate’s control.
Please inform us of a candidate’s specific assessment needs in writing at the time of enrolment, or as soon as practicable after that time, particularly if a condition becomes apparent or worsens after the closing date for entries. A request should be submitted for each enrolment, as information about specific needs will not be retained for subsequent exams, in line with our Privacy Policy.
AMEB Victoria may request supporting information from a medical or education professional, if deemed necessary, but please do not submit this information unless asked. However, AMEB Victoria may refuse requests for adjustment if sufficient information is not provided.
A carer or chaperone may be permitted to assist the candidate during the exam but cannot assist with answers to any questions. Permission to use a chaperone must be requested in advance, however supporting documentation is not required.
